| May 28, 2010 VICTORIA -The Order of British Columbia is now inviting nominations from all British Columbians in public recognition of individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement, excellence and distinction in their particular fields of endeavour. “We all know people within our communities who work tirelessly and make a significant difference,” says Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond. “This is a great opportunity to recognize the efforts and ongoing contributions of northern residents.” Nominations are now being received for the 2010 Order of British Columbia. Anyone in the community who has truly led by example qualifies to be nominated for the Order of British Columbia by any British Columbian. The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m., June 10, 2010. An independent Advisory Council, chaired by the Chief Justice of British Columbia, will consider nominations. “This is our chance to participate in the appointment of deserving British Columbians, including people from the North, to the Order of British Columbia,” adds Bond. “I encourage you to consider nominating a worthy recipient. It is important that the nomination process includes people from every part of British Columbia.” Since 1990, 287 British Columbians from all walks of life and many regions of the province have received the Order of British Columbia, the Province’s highest award.
