VALEMOUNT MAYOR APPOINTED TO COLUMBIA BASIN TRUST

VALEMOUNT - Valemount Mayor Bob Smith was among the new appointments to the Columbia Basin Trust.

“Mayor Smith will provide representation for our region on the Columbia Basin Trust and I congratulate him on his appointment,” says Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond. “As Mayor since 2008 and as a Director of the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, Bob has an understanding of northern issues and will bring that important perspective to the board table.”

Columbia Basin Trust’s 12-member board is appointed by the Province. Members consist of an appointee from each regional government in the Basin (five regional districts and Ktunaxa Nation Council), and six additional directors who also must be residents of the Columbia Basin. “Former Mayor Jeannette Townsend worked very hard as a board member and I know that Mayor Smith is committed to continuing that important role,” adds Bond.

The Board meets six times a year, and minutes from these meetings are available online at www.cbt.org/board.

Columbia Basin Trust (CBT) was created in 1995 to promote social, economic and environmental well-being in the Canadian portion of the Columbia River Basin - the region most affected by the Columbia River Treaty.
