January is National Alzheimer Awareness Month and the Alzheimer Society of B.C. honoured the event with the Investors Group Walk for Memories on January 25, 2009 – the fourth annual walk in Prince George. Donations were raised to help transform the lives of the individuals and families who are living with dementia. The Society is still accepting donations for this year.
The Alzheimer Society also provides free one-hour telephone/internet workshops for family-caregivers, wherever they are in the province. These worships include: "Moving from Problems to Solutions" on February 26, “Healthy Brain" on March 26 and "The Balancing Act" on March 29.
If you are interested in volunteering for next year's walk, for the society in another capacity or if you would like to get involved in some of their upcoming workshops, call 1-866-396-2433 or check their website for more information.
