Carmen Jose is the Foster Parent Program Coordinator for Axis Family Resources Ltd. Carmen was born in Vancouver and raised in Prince George where she has made her home for the past 37 years. She has been married for nearly 10 years and has two children, a son and a daughter.
She joined the Axis Family Resources because she really enjoys working with people, especially volunteers. Carmen believes foster parents are the most giving, charitable people and she is proud to assist those who provide their hearts, souls, homes and entire families to creating a better life for a foster child. She also loves the flexibility of her position which includes manning a recruitment booth at a fall fair, facilitating workshops and supporting foster parents through issues that may come up in fostering.
The mission of the AXIS Family Resources Ltd. is to be a leader in the delivery of community based social services while enhancing the lives of the diverse people it serves, its employees, and its partners. Programming includes specialized residential care programs; specialized family counseling and other interventions; community living services (group and individual); supported independent living programs for youth; mobile youth addictions treatment and crisis stabilization beds; outreach services for women dealing with abuse in their relationships; children who witness abuse counseling; and support and education/training for foster parents.

The Foster Parent Program includes many services including Foster Parent Recruitment, Education and Support services; Phase II, a program to assist children in care to transition into independent living; and STRIDE, a residential program for youth with a high risk of offending the law.
There will be an orientation in January for anyone who would like to become involved with the Foster Care System. The date has yet to be determined but all inquiries can be addressed to Carmen at 250-564-9064 ext. 23.
