Martin Anderson is a volunteer for the Prince George Airport Ambassadors. Martin was born in Denmark and moved to Canada to work on a farm near Toronto. After a short time in Calgary where he met his wife, he moved to Prince George where he has been a resident for the past 42 years. Martin lives here with his wife Sigret and four girls: Karin, Linda, Connie and Hanne, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He joined the Ambassadors because he enjoys meeting new visitors to Prince George and local residents that he has not had the chance to meet before. Directing people to where they need to go and answering questions about the city provides Martin the opportunity to find out more about who people are and why they are visiting our city.
The mission of the Prince George Airport Ambassadors is to meet and greet the incoming travellers and introduce them to the city. They provide any information that is needed for incoming passengers, including maps and, from time to time, city pins. Further directions include: where travellers can get a taxi, accommodation, restaurants, sight seeing and events that may be happening in Prince George.
The organization’s staff can be found adjacent to the car rental kiosks at the Ambassadors’ booth in the airport terminal building. All Ambassadors are easily identified by their green coats.
Currently the Airport Ambassadors are looking for new volunteers. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and show them what a fantastic city Prince George is. The organization would be happy to train new volunteers and help them get started as Ambassadors.
If you would like to become a volunteer, please call Bea Stanley at 250-564-4534 or Martin Anderson at 250-563-7825 for more information.
