
Margaret Graine is the Economic Development Officer for McBride and District. Margaret was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland, relocated to Toronto in 1976 and has made McBride her home since 2006. She is married and has a daughter (Sophie), who is an Environmental Engineer/Park Planner and works for the Territorial Government in Iqaluit.
Margaret joined the Economic Development Office – McBride and District because she enjoys the challenge of blending and balancing different viewpoints within her community to create a better future for children and their families.
The mission of the Economic Development Office –McBride and District is to build a legacy for future generations, by creating a healthy and sustainable community, while preserving their pristine environment. The office aims to create and foster economic opportunities that lead to further job possibilities in the community.

This week, the office will hold “A Green Future for Northern BC Communities” seminar, on June 5, 2008 at the new McBride Community Centre from 6 to 9 p.m. Some of the topics to be discussed include: Forestation of De-commissioned Landfill Caps; Forestation to Remediate Soil Salinity; Source Water protection; and Zero Waste Community Management. On September 18 and 19, 2008 the organization will host a small business forum. The event includes a three hour workshop for “Women in Business,” and a full day of presentations by various speakers for all businesses.
