"We can help you transition into your dream job."

George Kos

George Kos is the Managing Partner of Transitions-Career Consultants. George was born in Zagreb, Croatia and immigrated to Canada in 1968 by way of Austria. He held several positions in Northern Cariboo communities before settling in Prince George. George is married to Andrea McKenzie, whom he started his company with.

He was first hired by Transitions to manage a Job Development program, finding placement opportunities for multi-challenged youth. George enjoys his current position because he helps others build a better future by providing them with the opportunity to acquire new skills.

The mission of Transitions-Career Consultants is to provide a professional counseling and negotiation service which offers continuing support and encouragement to members of their community in the collaborative development of their life/work plan.

The agency manages provincially funded Community Assistance programs (CAP) that are aimed at assisting participants in achieving increased involvement in their communities, establishing an increased peer support network, adapting and committing to a healthier lifestyle, developing stronger family relationships and moving towards employment. Transitions-Career Consultants has assisted over 4500 clients to obtain new skills and build a better financial future for themselves and their families.

The organization’s head office is located at #201-1268 5th Avenue. To find out more information on their services, you can call the agency at (250) 562-0202 or toll-free at (877) 562-0203.

Through the Skills Development Employment Benefit (SDEB) program, the organization provides negotiated financial assistance to eligible clients to allow them to acquire marketable skills which will return them to employment. The skills training initiatives could include: short term training such as first aid or petroleum industry training; adult upgrading if negotiated within a plan for skills acquisition; or longer term training such as licensed practical nurse, business administration or electronics technician.

Training plans are approved based on research that verifies there is opportunity for employment upon graduation, client budget and training relevance. Upon approval, the Transitions negotiator determines the level of financial assistance that allows the insured participant to make an appropriate financial contribution and the agency to provide financial help during training. Funding could be provided to support living, travel, dependent care, tuition and/or other costs.
