The BC Council on Substance Abuse is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education, awareness and the benefits of a healthy drug free workplace throughout BC.  The Council offers four workplace training sessions for both supervisors and employees to enable them to be proactive through recognition of the signs and symptoms of substance abuse.   These include the Supervisor/Leadership Workshop, the Employee Workshop, the Symptomology Workshop and the Young/New Worker Workshop.

Council membership encompasses a broad range of individuals, business, employee groups, government and industry groups to provide a support network to combat the negative effects of substance abuse in the workplace and ultimately the community itself.

National Addiction Awareness Week is November 18-25, 2007.  This year, National Addictions Awareness Week has the slogan; “It takes a HEALTHY community to raise a child”, because that’s what one week of sobriety should mean: a healthy community to raise our future generations. Please see www.naaw.net for further details on National Addiction Awareness Week.

The BC Council on Substance Abuse is celebrating National Addiction Awareness week by offering free sessions to business owners, supervisors and employees to gain awareness of the issues surrounding substance abuse in the workplace.  The council offered three special sessions during the week including one Thursday, November 22 at UNBC in room 6-307 from 5:00-6:00 p.m.  For further information on this free session, please contact Teresa at 250-649-4000.
