Jo and her husband Dennis have been married for 35 years and have two children and five grandchildren who all live in Prince George.  She says that her favourite part of her job is that she has the opportunity to meet some of the most generous, dedicated, creative, giving people in the community.

The mission of Volunteer Prince George is to promote, enhance and support volunteerism in Prince George.  The organization offers volunteer and referral services for non-profit organizations in the city.  They maintain a Volunteer Opportunities database and publish a monthly listing that is available to any interested parties.

Volunteers can also subscribe to the list by contacting volunteerpg@telus.net.  Volunteer PG also provides volunteer management information, workshops and resources.  They are located in the Native Friendship Centre building at #505-1600 3rd Avenue.

April 15-21 is National Volunteer Week and the organization is hosting a Volunteer Fair at Pine Centre Mall on Friday, April 20th from 9:30am-9:00pm to commemorate the week.  The theme of the fair is “Volunteers are Treasured.”  A variety of non-profit groups will be showcasing their organizations and there will be plenty of information, free prize draws and a treasure hunt at the mall.  Treasure maps will be available at any booth.
