"I am also a playwright and theatre artist who performs regularly in professional theatre."
- Sharon Stearns

Sharon Stearns was born and raised in Vancouver, but has been based out of Dunster for the past nine years.  In addition to being the Artistic Producer for Wishbone Productions, Sharon is a playwright and theatre artist who performs regularly in professional theatre.

She most recently performed in the Caravan Farm Theatre’s production “Macbeth” in Armstrong during the summer of 2006.  Sharon was one of only seven Canadian playwrights invited to attend the Women Playwrights International Conference that took place in Indonesia last November.  Her participation included a staged reading of a 40-minute excerpt from her latest play “Shout Sister.”

Wishbone Productions is a theatre company dedicated to developing and producing new plays and musical events.  It is a “theatre-at-large,” meaning that it performs at different venues across the province.

The company has held a premiere performance each summer since 2001 at various locations in British Columbia.  The organization has been approved for funding several times through programs supported by the provincial government.

Sharon began teaching a drama program on January 31 at the Dunster School of Fine Arts.  For one hour each of the next 12 weeks Sharon will work with Grade 4-7 students to develop their production skills from script-writing to the final staged performance.  Funding for this program came through the ArtStarts Artists in Education program.

The group also received funding from the ArtsNow Olympic Legacy fund to work with community members from the Robson Valley to create a collective production based on characters and events out of local history.

The project is currently in the research and development stage and is expected to be performed in the theatres in McBride and Valemount in the fall of 2007.
