"We are committed to teaching hockey; a game of fair play and mutual respect.  You will see by the smiles on the kids' faces, learning the game of hockey improves attitudes."
- Lee Campbell

Lee Campbell was born in Williams Lake but was raised in Prince George, where he has lived on and off for the past 17 years.  He is currently the Program Director for the Off the Bench Youth Sport Society.  Lee, who works at Players Bench as his full-time job, says that Off the Bench is the best way for him to do something important for the community and describes his role as a working day off from his main job.

Lee recently was married to his wife Lindsey.

Off the Bench provides a hockey program for underprivileged kids who couldn’t afford to play hockey otherwise.  They provide all of the equipment needs (sticks, pads, pucks, etc), transportation to and from the school, coaching, ice-time and a snack after the session.  They also offer extra curricular off-ice mentoring sessions.

The program is designed to instill a sense of respect and fair play into the fun atmosphere.  The organization’s official office is 1510 Taylor Drive, but most of the business is run out of Players Bench.

Off the Bench is at Kin 3 every Wednesday at 1:00pm.  They plan on holding a fun kids vs. sponsors game to encourage sponsors with all levels of hockey-playing experience to get out on the ice and have fun with the kids.

The organization is always accepting monetary donations and welcomes anyone who would like to meet any of the coaches or RCMP officers involved with the program.  If you’re interested in helping out, Lee asks that you stop by Players Bench or e-mail them at getoffthebench@gmail.com.  They are currently developing a Web site.
