"The Family YMCA is a values-based charity dedicated to the growth of people in spirit, mind, and body."

- Simon Adams

It’s a place where those from all walks of life can go to grow physically, mentally and spiritually.  The Family “Y” of Prince George is a vital part of our community.

Simon Adams is the CEO and has been on the job since January of 2006.  Adams, who was born in Vancouver and raised in North Vancouver, is married to Sarah Lucas, who is entering into her second year with the Northern Medical Program.

Simon says the part he enjoys most about his job and the “Y” is the opportunities it provides for everyone to help with the health of the community.  He says the YMCA responds to the needs of community whether it’s locally or on the international stage, and that every day at work brings something new.

The Family YMCA of Prince George’s mission is to support the growth of people in spirit, mind and body and to foster a sense of responsibility to each other and the global community.

You can find a number of places to participate in YMCA activities:  Fitness, Health, & Recreation - 2020 Massey Drive; Recreation - Simon Fraser Lodge; Swimming - Ramada Hotel & Vanderhoof Arena; Skating - Coliseum and Elksentre. Licensed Child Care - St. Giles Church & Kinsmen Place; Child Care Resource and Referral - 2315 Spruce St.; Youth Around Prince (YAP) - 7th Ave.

The Family YMCA is excited to announce a partnership with Harwin Elementary School and School District #57.  The “Y” will deliver much needed licensed child and after-school programs within the school.  As well, plans are underway to build a new child care facility at the Massey Drive location.  The Centre will create 68 new child care spaces for the Prince George community.
